I just had dinner with Tony Abbott

With a small group of 28 others...

It was awesome.... Cat Happy

He is an amazing man with a great heart.... great ideas.... great sense of humour....

I liked him before but am now very impressed.

It was a privilege to be there and a night I will remember for a long time.

Re: I just had dinner with Tony Abbott

Was he able to explain how and why the media presents him as a very poor public speaker unable to deal with anything perfectly scripted?

It's must  be disheartening for his supporters that a purportedly brilliant man comes across as totes dolt.

Re: I just had dinner with Tony Abbott

I am pleased for you that you had a good evening.

TA today said.

.....The latest Kevin car crash is these fringe benefit tax changes which threaten to completely derail motor industry sales at a time when the car industry is under enormous pressure. Why is Mr Rudd hitting aspirational people with yet another tax hike? Why is Mr Rudd so indifferent to the desires of ordinary Australians to get ahead? Because that's exactly what this fringe benefit tax is doing. It is hitting ordinary Australians who are just trying to get ahead. Mr Rudd doesn't get it, when it comes to our economy, he doesn't get it, when it comes to the aspirations of ordinary Australians.....

....Well, I ask you - what do you propose to do, Mr Rudd? Don't you think it is important to stop the boats? What do you want to do? Do you want to manage the boats? Do you want to massage the boats? Do you want to welcome the boats? The fact of the matter is the only acceptable outcome from Australia's perspective is to stop the boats. That is exactly what will happen under a Coalition government.

Did politicians speak like that about each other a generation or 2 ago?

Re: I just had dinner with Tony Abbott

That would have been a great experience, Cat!

When I was still working at Speedo, back when we still had industry before Hawke and Keating opened our borders to free trade,  Mr Howard came and did a tour of our factory.

I was standing at the edge of the cutting table as he walked along as he came to me he introduced himself to me (as if I didn't know who he was Woman Very Happy) and shook my hand.

I felt very honoured.
