As we all know, in most movies based on a book the film-makers take a few liberties with the original story - but this goes WAY BEYOND a few liberties.
Whether you believe the Bible is the word of God or not - in this case the movie bears only very fleeting resemblance to the original story. I mean there is an Ark, a guy named Noah, some animals and lots of water and there's where the similarity ends.

If they didn't magically put the animals to sleep, how would it have been humanly possible to feed all of those animals every single day? That was probably a good artistic license choice. I hated the film anyway though.

It was not animated. Russell Crow was in it. It wasn't geared toward children either.. there is a bit of nudity, and sexual tension from one of the sons. Noah also threatens to murder a baby.

No, I wouldn't say child oriented? Too much violence etc. Its "M" rated. It's got some good effects etc, well made but, as I said, if you've read the book don't expect MANY SIMILARITIES.
It's got Russel Crowe, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Jennifer Connelly. Paramount Pictures.

Not at all rabbit. I felt the same way you are feeling right now.
I laughed when they put the animals to sleep. I suppose they all slept for a year, without any food and water then?
Wasn't Noah supposed to be 600 years old when he set sail?
It is a bit hard to try to make a movie about a story that has so many holes in it already.
Their biggest mistake was trying to make sense of the story in the first place.
