...for entertainment!
Last night's finale of Ja'mie was disappointing, and the language and the some of the scenes were gross.
I left the TV after that but was sitting nearby at the computer when "Shock Horror Aunty" came on. Some of the language in that was so disgusting I made OH change the channel.
Is that what's being served up as entertainment these days?
I always thought the ABC was more conservative.

OP shouldn't be shocked a TV show on at 9pm about a grown male dressing up as a teen girl you say?
Op isn't so shocked at a grown male dressing up as a teenage girl so much as the language and situational sexual scenes displayed in a teenage enviroment. Not to mention the character's disrespect for her parents.
OP realises this is fairly close to reality ( having been an attendee of a girls' high school herself), but is surprised that such an exaggerated version is displayed for the public as entertainment.
OP wonders at the subsequent grossness of the following show "Shock Horror Aunty" as presented by an otherwise respected Television presenter.
Op wonders how this type of entertainment might desensitise the viewer and justify acts such as **bleep** and violence against women.
Disrespect to her parents.......that is the point of the character.....she is selfish and it play's on that.
So we should ignore how self centered and rude some private school girls are?
OP feels it shouldn't be trivialised and presented as humour.
Isn't that censorship of a person's views? There was a whole uproar about that last year!
OP doesn't advocate censorship of other's views but puts forward her own opinions for discussion
Shock horror aunty replaying rude things from the 1970's?.....How horrible, we should all hide that type of stuff and pretend that kids and the shows they watch nowdays are disgusting.
OP reccomends rereading of OP's OP. No mention of "kids shows" was mentioned. The shows in discussion were for adult viewing and were ideed disgusting in OP's opinion. OP feels there is no need for such repulsive and sexually graphic material to be presented as mainstream entertainment.
'Back in my day we watched the Sullivans and we surely did not listen to the skyhooks!'
Back in OPs day the Sullivans were also watched and the Skyhooks were also appreciated.
Justify violence against women? Were any walls punched?
If only walls were the only thing punched in matters of violence against women.
Your complaining for the sake of complaining.
OP regrets you have a complaint against OP's right of complaint
Check out the skyhooks 'smut' slbum so you can never again complain about vulgar music nowdays.
Nice lttle ditty about cutting a hol in the bottom of a bag of twisties.

Aunty is paid for by the public though. All well and good about getting up in arms about freedom of the press etc, but do it on your dollar, not mine.

My dollars pay foxtel, don't hear me complaining about their shows or political shows. I realise there are good shows and there are bad ones and usually the good ones stay around.
My dollar pays for education, I have no kids and do not plan on any. You do not hear me complaining about schools.
End of the day your tax dollars that goto the ABC would be 0.000000175 cents a year. You are hardly a share holder.

So, my point went right over your head, didn't it. We all pay for the ABC, therefore have a right to voice are approval or disapproval of what is aired. The ABC was always there for those who couldn't get commercial stations, that's why it was tax payer funded. You choose to pay for foxtel,do you get the difference? Having kids or not having kids is totally irrelevent (really at a loss as to why you mentioned it)
Anyway, over the stampede of RTR rampage of the past few days. Sorry for trying to interact, have a nice life, be nice to others.
