Or take garments that need hemming to the alteration booths in malls etc and pay someone to do a good job. I can sew but prefer an experienced person to take hems  up on new trousers.

Yep that seems like the obvious, easy solution.  But 1; I'm a tighta$$ lol and dont want to pay an extra 15 or 20 bucks on top of the 50 or 60 I have just spent on the item, and 2; I like to better my skills at things ya know?

Yeah, I know. I just don't want to end up with trousers that are too short or one leg longer than the otherWoman LOL

I had all my bedroom  curtains professioally made by  Kresta. fully measured, tracks fitted and white sheer linen curtains that pool onto the floor by about 5cms. looks lovely and only cost 2,300.

That's not a bad price for all that!

My sister used to make all my curtains for me, she was a whiz on the sewing machine.

These days I wouldn't have curtains, just blinds.

I am not a curtain fan, love my blinds. I have sheers in the bedroom only to give a softer effect.

I really enjoyed Wolf Hall. It opened my eys to  a lot of stuff about the period that  we weren't taught in my convent boarding school - particularly about Sir Thomas More. There is a sequal too - Bring Up The Bodies - and I think there is a third book in the pipeline.
