I know someone getting carers allowance and they shouldn't be getting it.
How do you dob in someone?

Be careful Crystal, people can be hurtful to those who they perceive to be getting more than they themselves, as I said Centrelink are very strict with carers allowance. It would be horrible to cause someone stress by being investigated due to someone's nastiness.

The treating Doctor is required to provide medical reason as to why the patient requires care.

I wont do anything cause I dont know the facts perfectly.

There has been very few political threads this evening. So the reason for this thread is pathetic. Has been and always will be.

Hmmm I'd have to wonder how they got it, either they are great at fooling their GP or they are genuine. Be careful Crystal, don't go by hearsay but make sure you have some facts. If you are still concerned and you think that you do know the story then by all means contact centrelink. You can claim carers if you live at a different address but you have to provide a certain amount of care.
But if you are wrong and its just gossip it could really do some damage.
Carers allowance is regularly reviewed at least every two years, sometimes they will pick a target group of carers and review at other times during that period.

No idea if Crystal is genuine or not, since I can't read her mind and don't follow the t*t for tat threads I'm in the dark!!!

It is very hard to get the Carer Payment Crystal. I know because I receive it. I care for two people. You have to not only have Dr's Reports but you also have to have other proof from several sources. The Disability Support Pension is also a hard one to get. You may look at someone and say they look perfectly fit and able but may have other issues or disabilities that aren't obvious.
Centrelink do take dob ins very seriously and do investigate it thoroughly. One of the people I care for had a previous carer who did nothing for them but saw it as a cushy option compared to Newstart where they actually had to make an effort. The Carer had seen the Caree twice in three months, had not taken them to a single appointment, did not even know the Caree's address. When I was made the Carer and proved how long I had been providing care, the other's payment was cut and a HUGE debt was raised. They were also suspended from receiving ANY form of Centrelink for a futher 3 months. They were actually lucky that they were not prosecuted. And the Caree knew nothing about them receiving the payment for their care...and the Carer was calling the Caree every "payday" and asking to borrow money.
I believe they are still paying off the debt...2 years later !
