I'm wondering. Does anyone actually read the C&Ps?

I normally read ANYTHING regardless of how inane and ludicrous it is. But I realised today I haven't read any of a certain groups C&Ps for weeks and weeks.

I simply wait until a handful of posters have put their opinions forward and have started a proper discussion and only then do I read and evaluate if it is going to be worthwhile to join in.

You?

I would actually read those!

I hate scrolling through miles of copy and paste, I can't even read it or my eyes glaze over

Poor waterlily 😞 that's unfair.

and about copy pastes, my favourite kind is when one person pastes a huge unreadable post and then another person reposts or quotes it :^O

Clair, did you read it twice?

Read what?

Oh yes that's right, yes I did..... I think........... what was it again?

Not any more.

I find it easier (and quicker!) to read a novel

like Thackeray's  Vanity Fair.(only a thousand pages long)

At least Nero starts their own threads in which to put their long C& P's. Other posters long C&P are appear in multiple threads, several different ones in the same thread.

True. And no offence to Nero, but I choose not to open them. Those in a thread where a potential discussion on the topic is happening are severely annoying.

I agree with your statement. If nero does a c&p then it's up to others, if interested, to comment on it & offer their opinions.

I have seen multiple c&p one after the other in reply that totally make you lose any interest in reading them. The worst offenders for c&p replies are well known & hijack every thread they don't agree with & rarely offer their own opinion or if they do its a sarcastic rant.

INAM you repeat, with highlights, a C&P posted by  by a couple of others, but none of you bother to acknowledge the "provenance" of the C&P interview, namely:
Global brief
Interview With John Ralston Saul
TÊTE À TÊTE | June 27, 2011

Why?

"When they bold certain bits it is a sure warning that it is not worthy of a read ha ha!
How passionate can you get - I wonder if anyone has swayed in their views since the bombardment of rubbish journalism?"
Does that include within CS?, and is Twitter now the reference source of choice for some."

I have observed that facts/truth/research are often "overlooked" within CS in favour of anecdotes, myth, bias, ignorance, myopia, and accordingly I only "accept" what a few write here at face value without checking their posts (if they are of interest).

But among the above self explanatory posts above I found a ray of sunshine from KDT, it has made my day/week/year :

"I tend to use cut and pastes to show the facts ... and then I give my opinions ...
I read some C&Ps, but not all, to understand the opinions of others."
