Why do the taxpayers have to pay to house, feed and clothe this animal for 2ยฝ years?
Deport him now.
So the taxpayers have to pay for this scxmbag to stay in prison before he is deported? What kind of crazy reasoning is that?
One can only hope he will have plenty of companions there who loathe pedophiles and will make his life sheer hell.

With any luck at all, there will be at least one person to diddle with him daily in a shower scene

No one here ever said justice is always even handed, it's not.
The government makes a lot of mistakes.
But there are quite a few sex offenders who are new to this country and who have basically gotten away with serious crimes and been allowed to stay. We need to deport as many serious criminals as we can, we don't need them here, they'll just make future trouble and cost us a heap of money. That goes for serious sex offenders, criminals, terrorists.
If we can show them the door, we should just do it. Our taxes could be better spent on looking after the law abiding citizens here who need help.

And if we deport them straight away, that prob means they dont do any gaol time, so in essence they get away with their crime and a free to commit this low act again. Is that what you wish to happen?

I think it would be a greater punishment for him to be deported to his country of origin.
Why give him a free ride in prison at taxpayer's expense?
He'll appeal and appeal.
A new government in the next 4.5 years may grant him a release and he'll walk away a free man.

The New South Wales District Court sent Al Bayati to jail for four-and-a-half years' jail, with a non-parole period of two-and-a-half years.
He'll be out in 2ยฝ years anyway, so what difference does a new government make?
When his parole period comes up, that's when they'll deport him.

Maybe. Depending on what appeals he can make in that time.
