Love this article.
Big girls sets a goal to wear a bikini next summer. Everyone assumes she is planning to lose weight. Nah - the goal is simply to...WEAR. A. BIKINI.
Personally I like seeing big girls in bikinis. I hate it when they cover up with shorts and nonsense like that.
Good on her!
An extract:
The reason these people do not want to see a fat body in a bikini is because traditionally, that garment is something a woman earns by proving herself attractive enough to exist. If fat women begin wearing them without shame or fear, what's next? Will they have self-esteem? Will they demand respect? Then what will keep them in their proper place? How would conventionally attractive people judge them?

I don't see the problem. Good luck to her if she wants to wear a bikini.
If she's happy with her body image why worry what ppl say about her?
Plenty of fat ppl accept themselves and get on with their lives without having to write big accusatory articles about ppl being intolerant of them.
Craving acceptance from others means you don't accept yourself and need to look outside yourself for approval.

I think she looks great. She won't look "less" large in a one piece suit. She looks happy and confident. Good for her.

Okay, now that the idiot American(me) got that all wrong.... 😛
What do you think about someone over the age of 40 wearing a bikini?
I still wear one. I bought my first one piece suit last year, and wore it to go snorkling, but I wore my bikini the rest of the time I was on vacation.

I don't think age is a factor?
but yes, certainly no bikinis for snorkling LOL
bikinis are in some ways better at the beach (easier to get the sand out LOL) but in the surf, can be dangerous - and under a wet suit - can be very uncomfortable LOL (ever had a wedgie in a wet suit)

You know, if you feel good in it, that is what matters...not your age. There shouldn't be rules for such things...after all, look at people who are over 40 now, or close to it. Would anyone say Nicole Kidman or Cameron Diaz should stop with the bikinis? I am thinking probably not 😛
so forget age and just enjoy it 🙂

Helen Mirren was photographed wearing a bikini in her 60s, too. Age isn't relevant 🙂
