Love this article.
Big girls sets a goal to wear a bikini next summer. Everyone assumes she is planning to lose weight. Nah - the goal is simply to...WEAR. A. BIKINI.
Personally I like seeing big girls in bikinis. I hate it when they cover up with shorts and nonsense like that.
Good on her!
An extract:
The reason these people do not want to see a fat body in a bikini is because traditionally, that garment is something a woman earns by proving herself attractive enough to exist. If fat women begin wearing them without shame or fear, what's next? Will they have self-esteem? Will they demand respect? Then what will keep them in their proper place? How would conventionally attractive people judge them?

I'm not exactly sure what needs to be hidden under the belly part of a swimsuit, anyway.
It's not like the skin on the legs and arms aren't showing.
Oh yes, I've had a wedgie under a wetsuit. I've lost my top and bottoms water-skiing and swimming in the ocean too.

Oops!
I have to admit, I have never worn a bikini.

Hello, everyone. This discussion is getting a little inappropriate and off-topic. Could we please remain on topic. Thanks!

What do you think about someone over the age of 40 wearing a bikini?
I still wear one. I bought my first one piece suit last year, and wore it to go snorkling, but I wore my bikini the rest of the time I was on vacation.
I am 47 and wear one.
And I aint no Cameron Diaz lol!

Martini, we were talking chicken parts and prices earlier. I don't know why we were talking about that, but it's all good, and the magic has put us back on track!
Bikini, tankini, two piece, ruffles, skirts, polka dots, strapless....
What is your preference? ๐
Do not wear a strapless bikini top if you plan to body surf.

No tankinis or skirts on me thanks! I have 4 of them - all are smallish, string tied type. I did buy a 5o's style halter top last summer.
Whilst I don't body surf, I do wear them in the surf. I have never lost one.

The woman in the article is not morbidly obese, (google images for that), but she is risking her health by remaining at that size.

Don't understand your point.
Than? What?
than possibly this comment from the undies thread
Some things that look good on smallish people don't look quite the same on larger ladies. I'm not sure I want to see the XXL version
lol
