Having seen the doctor today, he recommended the Implanon implant as the better form of contraception for me, happily wrote me a prescription and made an appointment for me to have it put in later in the week. So, as always, I went home sat down and googled it. OMG! Is there no one who has had a good experience with this? I am seriously considering telling him at the appointment to forget it and give me a script for the pill instead. I am about to move town, start a new job and move in with my partner. Mood swings, weight gain and constant bleeding don't fit so well with those plans! I am wondering if any one who is/has using Implanon can give me some advice. Thanks!

My daughter had it done and didnt have any problems with it.
Like most things, they always list side affects that are associated with these things, doesnt mean that you will have them, they list them as a guide to what some people have found.

Very true purple_haize! Thanks everyone for the comments ... I think it is the idea of not knowing when I am going to get my period that is putting me off. I am a control freak!

A couple of friends have had it and the side effects they had (like those listed) only lasted a couple of months, so don't panic until your body has time to get used to the extra hormones. (I have a mirena which is an IUD with hormones included and get similar effects)

My daughters friend fell pregnant 18 months after having it inserted after her second baby was born.

I think Az was replying to the OP, Purple, not to your post,
I agree with Az, Googling a product is a bit like looking for info on the eBay buying board. - people tend not to post there unless they have a problem.
