Inconsiderate or just plain rude?

WTH is wrong with people? Are they just so self absorbed that they dont think about other people or are they just plain rude?

In the last 4 months these are some of the rude people ive had to deal with

1. Woman likes to go for 6am walks up my street. She has her phone with headphones on. She holds the phone in front of her and yells into it the whole time she is walking. She is so loud she wakes all of my household up. I went out and asked her to stop. She now only does it on Sat and Sun mornings. How nice of her...NOT

2. Man likes to go for walks at 5:15am every weekday morning. No big deal apart from the fact that he bounces a basketball while walking. So at 5:15am on the dot we hear BOING....BOING....BOING....BOING. Hubby goes out and asks him to stop bouncing the ball and is told to "Bleep off. Its a free country"

3. Ive had to leave notes on 3 people cars who decide that rather than walk a small distance to the high school, they will just park across my driveway instead

4. Neighbours moved out of their house on the weekend. They must of decided that they didnt need the ugly metal drum that they used to keep their chook food in at their new house. So where do they leave it? On the grass area right out the front of my house. Hubby rolled it back down their driveway.

5. 9:30pm last night. Kids are in bed and hubby and I are watching Breaking Bad (great show) when all of a sudden we hear a loud motorbike noise outside. We wait a while so see if it goes away but it doesnt. We go take a look and a group of 4 adults have decided that 9:30pm would be a great time to take their mini, noisy as hell, motorbike for a ride on the tennis courts across the road from my house. I go over and say "Hey, i have kids trying to sleep in here." They respond with "So what?" I then say "I'll just go call the cops then." So they leave

I mean come on. WTH is wrong with these people?

You could find a very loud horn and connect it to a motion sensor and a timing device so that if anyone passes between midnight and 7am they cop a full blast of the horn.

You would also need to set up a video camera to record the shocked expressions and upload the footage so we can all laugh at the basket ball bouncer and phone talker.

do you take into consideration people who work nightshift when you go about your normal daily activities?

Re: Inconsiderate or just plain rude?

Just because something is not against the law does not mean it is OK.  We were brought up to think about other people and their feelings, and how would we like if somebody was doing to us what we are doing to others.  It is often the little things that drive us mad, and it is not too much effort to change our behaviour if it is upsetting other people.

And yes, when I had a neighbor who worked night shifts I did change the mowing routine to times either early before he went to bed or late afternoon when he was up.  I do not tolerate my dogs barking, I try not to slam the driveway gate especially if it is past the kid's next door bed time because his bedroom window is right next to the gate....etc.

Re: Inconsiderate or just plain rude?

It is about courtesy, more than laws really. If I was doing something noisy that I learned bothered someone, where they had a reasonable complaint I would stop it. If it wasn't reasonable I would think get a grip, but still try not to bother them.

Repetitive bouncing etc. at an early time would bother me. It is unusual so could be considered a nuisance...

some people are also quite sensitive to noise so what bothers one person might not bother someone else so courtesy comes into play.

Re: Inconsiderate or just plain rude?

I know where the OP is coming from.

We've been there, done that.

I don't think it matters where you live, you will always get inconsiderate or thoughtless people. When we were living at our last house in Sydney we had everything from trail bikes at all hours and barking dogs.

So far in our house in Brisbane its mostly been kids screaming & yelling at 6.00am, and  neighbours who talk loud and smoke on their back patio in the evening (which drifts into our bedroom). OK, we can shut the window,  but it's been so hot & humid I nearly die if I have to do that. It's a shame, as they are very nice, friendly people, so I don't want to say anything to them.

Inconsiderate or just plain rude?......yes both DD.

People should show more respect for their area and neighbours.

If they know their behaviour is making other people miserable...... why would they continue?  I don't get people like that.

This thread is probably highlighting which posters would make horrible neighbours as well.......

Re: Inconsiderate or just plain rude?

Ugh, don't remind me.
With the holiday season about to start we will soon have the drunks walking past our place on their way back from the pub to the caravan park at midnight or later.
Followed from about 6.00am by the walkie talkies heading to the beach for their morning exercise.

It's such a change from our usual sleepy little street during the rest of the year.

hahaha, I know all about night shift and noise.  I lived opposite a primary school and down the road from a footy club in my night shift days  😄
