Interesting, but we already knew it

I posted about something similar last week... word was that Gillards office is actually doing this using people paid by the taxpayer... they are instructed to make accounts and go into groups and forums to "spy" on what the "other side" is doing and saying.

Political satire is witty, it’s funny and it’s clever. This doesn’t qualify as political satire: not even remotely.

Political social propaganda in Australia needs to get out of the gutter and get into the game. Instead of robust debate we have spam-bots regurgitating every negative Labor news headline of the past 18 months on the #AusPol feed at a rate of knots. Instead of robust debate we have pre-election campaign shots being fired over imaginary ship bows. Instead of robust debate we have this:

Investigation into fake parliament emails

An investigation has been launched into the use of the parliamentary computer  network to post pro-Labor political messages using fake names on the  internet.

The investigation by the Department of Parliamentary Services was sparked by  a story in the Colac Herald newspaper last week.

The newspaper reported a computer user in Parliament House had pretended to  be at least nine different people while making pro-Labor comments online.

The user posed as an employee of Bulla Dairy Foods, Colac Area Health and  Barwon Health among other organisations.

Liberal senator Michael Ronaldson raised the issue during a Senate estimates  hearing in Canberra on Monday.

The department's chief information officer Eija Seittenranta says an  investigation was under way and it should be possible to track down the specific  computer used within a week, given that the newspaper had provided the  department with an internet protocol address.

But it could take more time to identify who used the computer.
