August 13 is an annual “holiday” that not only celebrates lefties, and raises awareness about the numerous struggles and difficulties left-handed people face in a right-handed world.
The annual event is marked by various left-handed parties and events all over the world.
Despite the challenges of living in a right-handed world, many famous Southpaws have excelled in their profession.
Hands up all lefties here.

**off topic alert**
Have you read Nieffenegger's The Time Travellers Wife? It's a great read.

I'm a rightie, OH is left, all 3 of our offspring are righties.

I am ambidextrous I use my left had to do most things but write with my right hand. My younger brother is left handed my Mum has 12 brothers and sisters and all of them have one left handed child in their family and all of them are boys.

Are you aware that the ratio of left-handed people is higher in the homosexual population?
Eg. one in ten of the general population is left-handed, and (I don't know the figures) more than one in ten homosexual people are left-handed.
It might be irrelevant to some, but I find unusual statististics interesting.

Lurker!
Haven't read the "Time Traveller's Wife" yet, but I have it at home.
My mother was left-handed trained over in school to be right-handed. Apparently they did that back in her day. 1930s.

Happy International Left-Handers Day
I'm a proud lefty!
Us lefties cop many a joke from our other paw relatives, friends. Even a total stranger upon noticing our gift will pass, in a high pitched, excited screech; "Oh... You're left handed... I have a cousin (or sister or aunty..) who's left handed".
Well isn't that the darnedest thing... whoopwhoop!

my youngest is ambidextrous and I now refuse to ask her to set the table. She is right handed when writing, left handed eater. will pick up scissors left handed then remembers she can use them right handed. sometimes I wonder if being totally left handed would be easier for her

Some useless facts. Left traditionally means Evil and unlucky.
THey're also more likely to die sooner, be schizophrenic, be alcoholic and suffer other mental disorders.
Happy Lefty day.

Happy Lefty day.
Can't say I like those facts much, Bob
Actually I was only made aware of International Left-handers Day because the young bloke that fills up our junk food vending machine in the staff room signed the visitors book left-handed and another person (young lady) looking on wished him a happy day!
He's so cute he went all blushy

It was bad how they forced left handers to write with their right hand years ago. I had a few Aunts and Uncles that weren't very impressed with that happening to them.
I write with my left hand but do most other stuff with my right hand.
