Well I'm glad I don't live in NSW. with my leftie leanings I'm sure I'd be clasified as a "rogue"

Yes Debra, it is called the Safari Club in the USA. I think Colin Powell was also a member.
The exotic animal of choice is loaded into fenced yards and shot. And they call it hunting.
Many rich and powerful people in the USA are members.
They have imported (and smuggled in) rare endangered species including orangutans and pandas....yes even pandas.
All in the name of species study and conservation.
Kinda like the Japanese and whale hunting. .
The aim of members was to shoot a minimum of 171 (some say 300) different species to get kudos with the Safari Club.
Borsak was trying to establish one here in Australia. However, there are two organisations here who support and are members of the main one in USA, one in Guyra NSW and one in Katherine NT....those are the ones I know about.
Incidentally, the elephant in question was not a rogue according to on the ground reports. It was benign and just standing there..
It was all about money and the odorous Mugabe who charged for each elephant shot and he got the tusks.
I have been on Borsak's case for years.
What an obscenity he and his ilk are.

Yes Lionrose it is true. It was extensively covered in the press at the time and nationally condemned.
