Is it possible to be both religious and a feminist?

Can you for example follow the teachings of the Koran or Bible and still believe in equal rights for women?

How exactly do you reconcile this?

1 Corinthians 11:3 * 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God.

1 Corinthians 14:34 - 35* 34. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Bob, you don't have to agree with everything in the bible to believe, to have religion. One can look at how the bible was written and when, over how long, and it's understandable that what applied then might not apply now. I believe God intended for his creation to evolve.

You have so many questions and i support them, i think your topics make for interesting discussion. You in your own way are a credit to this forum, would be a credit to any discussion board.

Now let me ask you something Bob, do you have faith, in anything, and if so, what, and what is your reasoning behind that faith?. I've described to you many times about faith, going by my definition, where do you stand  with faith? The belief in something that can't so much be supported by known accounts, seen first hand?

If you don't have faith, thats understandable. If you don't have it, you can never understand it, if you do, no explination is nessary.

Theres alot in the bible that makes me scratch my head and think, "this is just wrong" but it don't waiver my faith. Theres alot in this world that makes me think that Jesus has abandoned me, Sitting in a holding cell, the abuse, ect. My faith is still there. This world is not Heaven after all. Maybe all that stuff is in the bible to test our faith, or strengthen it. I don't have the answers, i only have the faith.

.

Fun Factor : Now you have a choice in chat, factor that

So you're a cafeteria Christian. You simply pick and choose whatever you like. If you say we have evolved our morals then you're essentially saying the bible is no longer relevant in our society today.

Faith by definition is beliving something without evidence or contrary to evidence. Do you think faith is a good way to live your life?

Do you think the bible is God's way of testing people's gullibility?

BTW " a lot" is 2 words. There's= THere is

+1

The bible is intended to be just a guide to the Christian way to live, it was never intended to be a law.

You can be religious and have a strong faith in whatever God you believe in but also think for yourself and have your own opinions.

In your opinion. Is the bible a good guide for the Christian to live? BTW, you haven't read the bible if you don't realise it's God's Law. The bible is very implicit on its law.

How do you think for yourself if the bible is there to tell you what to think?
