Is it safe for me to allow a technician to have REMOTE ACCESS to my computer?

I posted a task on AIRTASKER today asking for someone to set up my email account on my computer.

I had a few offers BUT they all say they can do it REMOTELY.

As I'm not really familiar with this kind of procedure, I was wondering whether it's safe to allow someone to do it that way or is better to insist that they come to my apartment? Admittedly two of the three offerors have excellent ratings: one has nine pos ratings and one has three pos ratings.

I'm not exactly a tech-savvy user and at the moment I can only access my emails via Bigpond's webmail service. That's a pain as it means logging in every time etc. So I'm keen to get someone to set it up, so that I can just click a button like I used to do, and send or receive emails rather than going via webmail ea time.

I offered $40.

Thanks

Thanks for that

Yep I figured there was no DVD player but somehow managed to find one called ASUSDVD, I guess a free addition for my ASUS computer! So that worked and I could watch my dvd (I tried the old Win Media Player but it didn't work)

btw: was just wondering about the email program I'm using. Which one is it and how does it interact with Bigpond, my internet serv provider?

It's an odd email program, whatever it is. It doesn't seem to hold onto any deleted emails, unlike webmail, which holds them ALL for a few weeks. Also I don't seem to be able to change the default font, default colour etc. Only thing I managed to configure myself was to add a signature

O..K..

Not sure if your Q re deleted emails is a wind up, but why would you even need to hold onto deleted emails?

When you have the email page open, look for 'format' and click on that to change font/ colour/ size etc..

I think you might need to speak with MS- try giving them feedback! or your ISP if you need to understand how your email program interacts...

re deleted emails: No, not kidding. I generally like to hold onto them for a week or so just in case. It occasionally happens - not too often - that one needs to retrieve something from a deleted email . But with this Win 10 Mail App, the deleted emails folder is swept clean every hr or so. Is that correct? With webmail, it's also swept clean but that's only after a few weeks

regarding the format: yes I see that. My default font is Calibri but of course one can always change a font or colour to suit for individual emails.  But what If I want my default font to be say Arial? and default colour to be BLUE. is that poss?
