I posted a task on AIRTASKER today asking for someone to set up my email account on my computer.
I had a few offers BUT they all say they can do it REMOTELY.
As I'm not really familiar with this kind of procedure, I was wondering whether it's safe to allow someone to do it that way or is better to insist that they come to my apartment? Admittedly two of the three offerors have excellent ratings: one has nine pos ratings and one has three pos ratings.
I'm not exactly a tech-savvy user and at the moment I can only access my emails via Bigpond's webmail service. That's a pain as it means logging in every time etc. So I'm keen to get someone to set it up, so that I can just click a button like I used to do, and send or receive emails rather than going via webmail ea time.
I offered $40.
Thanks

Win 10 notifies you of any mail too
Down on the right on 'notifications'
not just the boring 'updates were installed'

maybe share a treat with your wife, with the savings!
PS- I just wanted to add that sometimes people ARE genuine, and want to help, but there are dubious characters out there, and some of them work for companies that want your personal details..worth a whole lot more than $40..I wondered how the figure of $40 was arrived at..its just so, arbitrary..
anyhoo- youre ahead! have a nice weekend too.
x you can
lol

$40 is the half hour charge that most computer techs charge.

Thanks all, working fine now, except not sure how the Notifications work! But I'll leave that for another time!
btw $40 was the figure I came up with, but with Airtasker of course, that's just an opening bid/suggestion and often people will ask for more. In this case 3 people accepted $40 but would only do it remotely. One guy asked for $48 to come to my apartment, but unfortuantely for him, it's done already thanks to my friends on this forum
and btw again! I have used Airtasker a few times in the past mainly for small deliveries and have had no probs with them. the guys I used were all reliable and efficient, cos of course you can check their ratings and then choose the best one. Or you can just let it go as I did in this case

When you have notifications, the little square page down on the
bottom right turns white.
Just click on it. You can read your mail from there

sorry guys, just one more question! Have noticed that it takes about 15 mins to "sync"?
that means that emails take that amount of time to get to me, so its not instantaneous
generally thats not a prob, except if someone sends me an email that I'm waiting to respond to immediately
if I SEND an email, then it also takes awhile for that email to appear to the "SENT" box. Initially I thought they hadn't gone thru, so that caused all sorts of probs!
any idea how the "syncing" can be speeded up?
thanks

Art, you could try this...but apparently one of the 'features' of Win 10 is the time it takes to synch..
Settings icon- bottom left of screen
Click on Accounts
Click on the mail account you want to modify
Change mail box, synch settings...By default, it as 'based on my usage'
Change to 'as items arrive'
and then click on 'synch every 15 minutes', which is the shortest time
check it out...
will be around today..if you need help
