Is mocking a good way to help educate people?
How do you get someone to "see the light"?

Religion is irrational, but only they can release the difference between reality from fiction for themselves.
Even though you are well intentioned.
Probably best just to discuss what 'you" think if you are non religious, subject at hand, without mocking individuals who are believers.
BTW, I stopped seeing a particular doctor because he admitted he was a Christian, so.. didn't trust his judgement.

Mocking someone is a good way to get a punch in the nose. And then you'll see the lights.

Please explain what did you mean by MOCK? Ridicule perhaps? At the same time please tell us what/where is ' the light'.
When was the last time you mocked someone? Pray tell.
Like say if they're a flat-earther. You mock them by telling them what and why they believe is silly and idiotic.

So you are okay with mocking people who's beliefs differ from yours?
Given you started this thread on religion and have tried to turn it into a Luddite one, I would venture that you don't care about the answers unless they give you some sort of validation to be a bigot.

Supposedly, I make up a religion and I spout out that women are inferior to men and black people are cursed because my special book says so. How would you change my mind?

On the other hand there are Christians(preachers) who criticise non believers for their life choices, sexual habits (preferences) & political views. In that case.. have at it, or ignore the nutjob.

I think mocking religion is not a good thing because it can result in wars. You never know how these things can escalate.
I imagine mocking to mean making inflammatory and insulting comments. There's also jokes and humour about religion....and some religions can't take a joke, so they aren't a good idea either (at least for certain religions).
Having said that, I am Catholic and I can remember a priest who used to include religious (as in Catholic) jokes in his sermons which usually got a smile and muffled laughter from the congregation. I suppose there was always the risk that the very devout might complain about him, but hopefully no one did. I have to admit though that some of the nuns didn't get the punchlines. 🙂
If an anti-Catholic joke is genuinely funny I am likely to laugh and save it to tell my friends. Some jokes however aren't funny mostly because whoever thought them up either knew nothing about the religion or the joke was so old it was no longer relevant (like English comedians making jokes about Australia being full of convicts....groan). I don't take offence to jokes about my religion but others might....especially in America from what I've read.
Flat Earthers and don't forget the Creationists though, hmm, that's a hard one.
