I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

It doesn't matter, a law is a law.

We are an amazing coiuntry, we do not need to break the law to acheive our goals.

We need to carry out our actions with integrity.

The general citizens are not excused fior unintentionally speeding, we still get fined.

This is one we do need to wear and accept responsibility for, not make excuses for.

If there are penalties, we need to accept them, otherwise I do think public acknowledgement and official apologies are apt.

Just because someone else is breaking the law, does not permit us to do the same, it is two different inciodences.

"Those who seek equity must do equity" - one of the Maxims of equity that Australia prides herself on.

"Those who seek equity must do so with clean hands" - That's another one.

The apology has been given, it was  an accidental incursion, no harm done.

but.....to read  and listen to the leftist one eyed commentariat anybody would think a nuclear device was launched pointed straight at Jakarta.

What law was actually broken?

Obviously it was an error, a serious error that should not be repeated.

According to UN/Law of the Sea and other international laws -

Passage is innocent so long as it is not prejudicial to the peace, good order or security of the coastal State. Such passage shall take place in conformity with this Convention and with other rules of international law.

Wouldn't an error such as unintentionally sailing through Indonesian waters, be considered innocent?

I don't know anything about this so would be interesting to learn something.

Where is John?

From my scroller ^^^^

Following this conversation Foreign Minister Bishop sought to speak to her Indonesian counterpart Foreign Minister Natalegawa last night, to advise him of this conversation and to offer an unqualified apology on behalf of the Australian Government for inadvertently entering Indonesia’s territorial waters
