I just answered you on my other thread icy. The one you didn't post on. What can I say? I'm easily confused these days. 😉

I think I'm going to have to learn how to enjoy lurking or start wearing a helmet (to protect the wall). Trying to watch the threads turn over is like watching paint dry. I guess somebody is going to have to think of a really interesting topic - something that warrants popcorn and coke!

How about - does wearing a Southern Cross tattoo mean you're racist?
"A young woman has gone to the extreme lengths of hiding her Southern Cross tattoos with a cover-up because it's seen as racist.
Identified only as 'Emily', the woman has had a flower pattern tattooed over her Australian flag-themed one on her foot to disguise it.
She said before that, she'd taken to hiding it beneath a sock because she was ashamed people would see it, particularly around people from different backgrounds."

Dunno icyfroth. I think it's sad that many kids these days feel guilt and shame for innocent actions that are interpreted to be discriminatory. The schools and politicians need to take more responsibility and tone it down on political correctness. I suspect a lot of kids err on the side of caution because they feel they will be judged if they dare voice their own personal opinions!

I often think it's sad that young folks get so many tattoos which they'll most likely regret later on.
I met an old man (a long time ago now) who had the Australian coat of arms tattooed on his chest. He said he had done it himself with ink on a pin in front of the mirror in order to commemorate Federation day. When he had finished, he told me, he discovered that it was a mirror image of the coat of arms. Oops.

Personally, I don't like tattoos of any kind, man or woman.
I don't see why patriotism as shown by a tattoo of the Southern Cross should be shameful or interpreted as racist.

I'm not a fan of tattoos. One of my boys has tattoos all over his body. I've been asking him not to get them ever since he got his first one. He has at least promised me that he will never tattoo his face or neck. I'll take that.
As for the girl with the southern cross tattoo - it would be interesting to know if the accusations of racism are based solely on the fact that she has that tattoo. I doubt that people would even take that much notice of a few stars tattooed on some girl's foot. Unlike now the stars were unremarkable. The tattoo she got to cover them is the opposite.

I'm trying so hard to be patient. Not easy for an impatient person. At least I can say I didn't realise how slow it was until this week. How long have you been hanging around watching nothing?

I've only been back about 2 - 3 weeks after popping in once a year(ish) since chinwag. I get my hopes up then sign off until the following year. But I'm really pleased to see some people I remember from the old board.
