I can't believe how quiet it is here. I remember years ago we predicted that the board would one day have so few members left that it would end up like this. At the time it seemed almost ridiculous.

Anyway, hello to anyone who remembers the good old days. I hope some of you are still around.

I have always thought that no other forum could take the place of this one. That's because it already had thousands of visitors buying and selling. It was only a small step to wander into CS and while away a few hours watching the items you were selling or bidding on. Other forums don't have that and almost all new members on them arrive via word of mouth. CS is much harder to find these days and ebay need to sort that out. I still believe that it has the potential to attract more members than the other forums. In addition, I would bet a lot of money that many past regulars still lurk from time to time. And sometimes they come back.

Ebay won't sort it out.

They're the ones who moved Community from the top of the page where everyone

could see it......

and then hid it down the bottom of the page where no-one sees it.

As hard as it is to find if you are looking for it you will find it because you will search Google for Community Spirit and it will come up. That's what I did. Still, it needs to be made more accessible to new members.

Then I guess we'll just have to hope there are lots of lurkers waiting to join or come back. It would be interesting to know if anyone who didn't know about it before has found it. And you f they did how did they?

I think the reason we oldies feel the way we do about CS is because we "invested" a lot of time and emotion into this place. We made friends here, laughed riotously, learned a lot, shared a lot, debated a lot. I think I started here 10 years ago!  That's a long stint being a member of the same forum! And I can say I made friends here, even though I haven't met anyone in real life, because we all helped one another in times of need. I remember many of us donating money to the person whose little blind kitty went missing. We were on the edge of our seats every day waiting for the longed hoped for update. It came, days later. The money we donated went towards building a safe outdoor enclosure for blind kitty. Money was also donated to the young mum whose husband had died.

We rejoiced in the births and supported those grieving.  When the man I was in love with betrayed me and left me with a pile of bills, a half empty house and a broken heart, CS was there every single day. I held onto everyones words like a life raft.

And half way across the world, a little girl , has a white and orange cross stitch piece with her name "AVA" on her wall in her bedroom made by the wonderful YCDI. โ™ฅ

Yes, there are lots of wonderful memories here.

I agree cat. I spent too many hours here for years. I would find it boring one day and compelling the next. But I was always drawn back here. Still drawn back here.

Exactly cat. While, "The Chinwaggers were an unruly clan of happy-go-lucky anarchists and had no structure or hierarchy", some were real people with real lives and really big hearts. I felt like I knew some of them personally because they were so genuine and unafraid of being real. I have lots of wonderful memories too.

Crikey seems to have lost a bit of decorum too.   I'm a bit shocked at that

She took me under her wing and taught me how to behave here
