This seems appropriate for this thread.

No 2 Bullying Conference

The Australian No 2 Bullying Conference will be held at QT Hotel, Surfers Paradise from the 6th to the 8th
of April 2014.
It will be hosted by the "not for profit" Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association Inc.
"IDENTIFYING BULLYING | Policy, Prevention & Management Strategies"

Following the success of the 2013 No2Bullying Conference, I invite you to join us in 2014 to hear from thought leaders, practitioners, academics, researchers and educators.

The Conference will examine bullying and what can be done about it in a range of contexts such as schools, families, workplaces and cyberspace.

Programs will be described and evaluated, and where possible, evaluations will be evidence-based. We will examine what some organisations have been doing to counter bullying, look at how the law operates and provide a critical evaluation of its effects.

The role of parenting will also be considered.

Over 20,000 Australian students aged 8-14 had their say about bullying in separate surveys, with the results published in the Australian Covert Bullying Prevalence Study (ACBPS). It found that more than a quarter - 27% - of Year 4 to Year 9 students were bullied every few weeks or more during a term of school.

Research shows many of the same young people who bully others offline, such as at school, are also the same young people who bully others in cyberspace. Cyber bullying has the potential to result in the target of bullying developing social, psychological and educational issues.

Workplace bullying can have a serious negative impact on individuals and on companies, but is unfortunately common. There are now serious legal consequences for organisations and individuals who fail to take steps to protect employees from bullying behaviour. The Productivity Commission estimated the total cost of workplace bullying in Australia at between $6 billion and $36 billion annually.

Conference streams in 2014 will include, but not limited to; Schools, Workplace, The Law, Parenting and Family Influence

Each stream will have sub themes, including but not limited, to cyber bullying, risk factors, health and psychological issues, case studies and management strategies.

All accepted abstract presenters will have the option of publishing their full paper in the “book of proceeding” with an ISBN.

I hope you can join us.

Sincerely
Sharlene Chadwick JP
Conference Chair
