It's Archibald time again

The 2014 Archibald Prize finalists have been announced, Tim Storrier's painting of Sir Les Patterson has won the Packing room prize, who's your pick for the big one? I can never choose just one.

Cosmo, thank you so much for posting this. It's a wonderful video collage of past Archibald entrants and I've saved it for posterity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: It's Archibald time again

It's too difficult for me to pick a winner as I know nothing about art.

I like Jason Benjamin - Just Wanna Dream and

Mirra Whale - Tom Uren

Congratulations to Fiona Lowry and her portrait of Penelope Seidler which was awarded the Archibald Prize today.

Well it just goes to show where my taste lies, as that was not one of the seven I selected as possible winners. Whilst I would obviously congratulate Fiona, I must admit that I'm not especially enamoured to her particular artistic style.

Well, I'm flabbergasted.  But then what do I know.

An airbrush?  I suppose that is an art it itself.

Re: It's Archibald time again

That was defintely the best portrait there.

This year I was amazed at the poor quality of the portraits presented. Most of them just didn't see to capture the models face properly let alone any character.

The portrait of Penelope Seidler is her to a tee.

Re: It's Archibald time again

That is an amazing portrait but I don't like that washed out look or airbrushed paintings. The winner of the Archibald is always a surprise to me anyway.

Re: It's Archibald time again

Fiona Lowry's portrait made my first 15, I quite liked it but was put off by the airbrushing idea. I've never picked an Archibald winner yet ๐Ÿ˜„
