It's time to stop the vile vitriol about Prime Minister Julia GillardPAUL SYVRET THE COURIER-MAILJUNE 18
LAST week the man likely to be federal treasurer come September fired off, in part, the following Tweet about Prime Minister Julia Gillard: "She has never deserved respect and will never receive it."
...
Unlike the personal vilification and denigration of our Prime Minister, however, it is the stuff that tends to stay where it belongs in the nether regions of the blogosphere.
Which is what makes Julia Gillard and the big smear all the more depressing and extraordinary - so much so that it is now making international headlines like this one over the weekend: "Treatment of Julia Gillard shows extent to which sexism is tolerated in Australia".
The sub-head in The Irish Times newspaper reads: "Prime Minister is attacked relentlessly in contemptible, offensive terms".
"It is almost impossible to picture all of the above (abuse) happening in most other modern countries," the newspaper says. "Can you imagine the outcry if, for instance, a political rival had stood in front of signs calling (former Irish politician) Mary Harney a (edited:rhymes with witch) or if a menu had referred to her genitalia?"

The Courier Mail hates the LNP.......
I have even had arguments with an editor from there on facebook and he was so hateful of Abbott and Newman it was astounding...
Didn't know who he was and when I went to look at his page and see where he worked I discovered the disturbing truth...
I would have thought the behaviour should have been a bit more restectful considering his position.

Eureka, does that mean their scribes do not resemble LL designed colanders ?

the vitriol heaped upon Ms Gillard has absolutely nothing to do with her gender, it is she who screams misogyny whenever anything is said against her. Can you imagine the likes of Carmen Lawrence or Margaret Thatcher or Benazir Bhutto whinging "oh they don't like me 'cos I'm a woman"

Seeing that previous post of my opinion of the PM was reported/removed I shall paraphrase it so that it is not a repeat of the reported/removed post and therefore does not violate policy.
The current PM has demonstrated ineptitude, connivance, covert manipulation,
underhandedness and has been seen to lack the ability to be truthful.
Her rise to power by deposing, with the help of the people who use her as a puppet, of the previous PM shows that she is ruthless and will use anything and anyone to advance her personal agenda.
She has rightly earned her place in history by replacing Gough Whitlem as the worst prime minister in this country's history.

Fiesta, I've seen quite a few of those women.
MM, The author is giving the same message as the Australian Army is as far as I'm concerned. This sort of behaviour has,can and is an issue and not one any one should really be proud of .He wondered why he wasn't told earlier ..why they didn't tell him? I did think you may give his words some value if not the words of females.
Perhaps like many women and as can be seen publicly for a women to be abused and pro-actively address the issue they are seen to be doing the wrong thing, playing the gender card, the victim, the poor me.It's those who abuse and demean would use terms like playing the gender card etc for being brave enough to speak out who should be seen as the problem.More and more I think that they are being seen like that ...and guess what ? they don't like being shown up (no doubt they believe that they are right and justified and how dare anyone try to stop them)....they won't be able to get away with it like they have ...poor them
Just know that when you say poor pm,call posters Mummy ,claim that they use sisterspeak ,or are part of the Sisterhood ..I understand .It is not ME who is demeaned when you do that .
The message the Army has sent out and our Prime Minister has sent out is that it is not on.Those who are capable of progressing should take note .It could save them looking stupid and rude and crude and in some cases keep them out of jail.
and for those who laugh at seeing a women's body parts included body parts referred to and put on a plate like a piece of meat ..........I would imagine that you never talk about how other cultures don't respect women ...would you ?
I hear and read people say 'those foreigners ' don't respect women like we Australians do

Nothing will stop the vitriol (on these boards) whilst others continue to feed it by responding to their threads.

How many times has she mentioned misogyny during her Prime Ministership?
You make it sound like an everyday occurrence.
the first speech was well and truly justified.... I'm still looking for the second.
Was there another one?
I don't recall her saying anything about it last week.
But come on if she keeps "screaming it" it will be easy to find examples.
