In my opinion it's our business if we want to turn boats around. They are Indonesian boats, crewed by Indonesians, participating in people smuggling.
We have the right to protect our borders & nobody can tell us what to do re safeguarding our country.
Indonesia know this.

Indonesia's foreign affairs minister Marty Natalegawa says his government will not accept asylum seeker boats being towed back from Australia.
In comments yesterday, Mr Natalegawa said he would be willing to discuss the Opposition's policy to turn boats around if the Coalition wo..., sentiments which had encouraged the Opposition.
But interviewed on Channel Ten last night, Doctor Natalegawa clearly said he did not support the plan to tow back boats.
"Such a policy would constitute a unilateral type of measure that we do not support, and that's why in my earlier remarks today what I said basically is that let's hear what the policy is all about," he said.
"We are not ecstatic about it for sure, but in terms of in the spirit of wanting to hear the various policy options countries are proposing, parties are proposing, it's good to have this dialogue."

On qanda Julie Bish first said we won't tow them back to Indonesia
Five minutes later she said we'll tow them back to Indonesian waters
Quibble over words. She looked rather happy while the focus was on Rudd and started to look like crumblinf concrete when the questions turned to her policies.

Julie Bishop blundering her responses on Q&A last night by trying to make out that Indonesia agrees with the Coalitions policy to tow back the boats. This has turned out to be bunkum. Bishop has taken comments made by Dr Natalegawa about Australias right to prtect its borders completely out of context whilst at the same time untruthfully implying that her governement has been in direct talks with Indonesia.
This news was highly reported with much glee by the various Murdoch medias.
But Dr Natalegawa has issued a statement that made it clear he said no such thing.
Blunder number 2 for the Coalition this week by Abbott (Mr Invisible) and now Bishop

Bishops appearance on Q&A last night was laughable. Her ridiculous response when questioned about Asylum seeker policy was to say that she was sure that they would be able to develop some policies that would successfully turn back the boats once they were elected.
After however many years sitting in the opposition what on earth have they been doing? Twiddling their thumbs instead of creating some policies to go to election with.

I think we are the laughing stock of the region... we go into Indonesian waters and save Indonesian boats loaded with people that have paid Indonesian officials because the Indonesians know we will pick anyone up and take them home.
Why do we go into their waters and save people that are loaded onto Indonesian fishing vessels???
Why don't the Indonesians use the money that we give them, the boats that we have bought for them and the Australian navy that we put in their waters to pick up these boats and take them back to their land??
We pick people up from their coastline... we you can see the land from where the boats are rescued.....
We are the suckers of the region... if the officials are going to take money from the refugees then they should allow them to resettle in thief country...
I think we should refuse to go into their waters... let them save them in their waters and we will save them in ours...

You don't really know much about maritime history, tradition or moral responsibility do you.
