Former prime minister Julia Gillard has attacked inept US Republican presidential candidates in an endorsement for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
In the video posted on Clinton's website, Ms Gillard is critical of the way in which Republican presidential candidates make "cheap and easy statements" on foreign policy.
"Hard words often get very ugly reactions," the former Labor leader says.
"And there's a real risk when people are campaigning for office that they use characterisation that is quick and might play in some constituencies back home but does damage that reverberates for years and years."
Ms Gillard says that if she was an American she would want to see the reputation of the USA get stronger rather than be put "at risk because of cheap and easy statements being injected into complex foreign policy debates".
The video features pictures of candidates Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Marco Rubio.
The Republican presidential candidates were widely criticised for their poor performance during a televised debate focusing on foreign policy issues.
Trump has called for Muslims to be banned from entering the US.
Chris Christie said during the debate he would be more trusted by King Hussein of Jordan than President Barack Obama when it comes to fighting Islamic State.
But King Hussein died in 1999.

I haven't looked at the video- but from what you've posted i agree with her
Trump???
apparently Gillard and Clinton developed a close friendship a few years ago, so as to the 'meddling' claim, she was probably invited or asked to do it
Gillard also does this
Former prime minister Julia Gillard has been appointed as chair of a global education program that aims to get the world's poorest children into school.
and this
The Chairman of beyondblue Jeff Kennett has announced that former Prime Minister Julia Gillard has accepted the invitation of the Board of beyondblue to join its Board as a Director.
i guess she's pretty much free to do whatever she chooses- we aren't paying her wages anymore

Oh yes we are, a handsome pension for life plus travel, assistants, office, stationary and transport.
Weโll be paying for this comrade and sheโll get a state funeral so weโll be paying for her death too.

What about Whitlam and his wife, sucked off the public nipple for life after being the biggest failure of a PM in history, and we paid for his death too.

Is that like Obama saying just last week the ISIS was contained??

Oh come on, play fair. We all know it's the same for any ex politician, from any party, who meets the criteria.

I agree we pay too much for them- but John howard is the biggest spender of them all ( we will pay for his death too)
Paul Keating spent the least, these figures are from 2010
btw Gillard also joined the speakers club but after she exited potics- unlike abbott who is supposed to be representing the people of Warringah in his spare time

Hello :
The Daily Telegraph obtained Department of Finance documents in 2013 which revealed Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard were costing the taxpayer $1m a year between them in retirement. Both were getting a $200,000 pension plus estimated $300,000-a-year office and travel costs. Gillard had applied for even more office expenses but was turned down.
