Re: Jury Duty.

About 40 years ago I was called several times in a short space of time for jury duty but my OH was in the Navy so away a lot and I had 2 small children and no one to look after them.  I applied for exemption at the time and have never been called since, despite being willing and able to do it now.

Re: Jury Duty.

Az on the lawlink site it is telling our panel to check again Tuesday after 4.30p.m. so it looks like I may not even get to go. They also say we go onto a list and may be called again at a later date.

Re: Jury Duty.

It will depend on the case, when they are ready to choose jurors. I was a fairly high number and was called second week.

Re: Jury Duty.

We would only be allocated a number once we were called, I was looking forward to lunch at the pub LOL Actually I was concerned about the Court list, there are 2 people I know of, on the list, I don't know them personally as such, but know of them and know their background, so had I been called for their hearing I would have had to be excused.

Re: Jury Duty.

It's a very big responsibility determining whether someone committed a crime or not. You have a person's freedom in your hands.

The minute detail that is gone into is mind numbingly boring and can be distressing. Years later I still feel sickened by 12 pages of discussion regarding the small discharge stain in a **bleep** victim's underwear; did it mean she was aroused and wanted intercourse to occur. Apparently not as the man was convicted but it had to be brought up anyway.

Re: Jury Duty.

I was allocated a number in my letter of notification............Jury Panel Q number 81. That was how I knew if I was needed?
