I don't think the portrait is particularly flattering to her and does make her look much older. At the same time though, what an incredibly talented artist, her hair is just amazing.
I am artistic/creative, but can't paint or draw to save my life, so am in awe of those who can paint or draw well.

she has a beautiful smile, and dimples.
I don't like the portrait. It makes her look old and colourless.
I agree, it isn't flattering, her makeup looks like she did it herself in the dark. (like mine does)

Seen in perspective, as in that pic with the artist in front, it's not too bad.
But your'e right pimpy, it does look like Jean Kitson.

It does make her look older.
However if it is a largish portait and is seen from a distance it may look fine, as ashjoma suggested.
Also it is fairly dark in colour, dark hair, dark background and fairly dark blue blouse.
As monsters said the hair does look pretty amazing.
I have seen a plenty photos of her where she looks really happy, including their wedding photos.

it would be interesting to see the photo it was based on..
If you read the following link it also mentions among other things, the artist has squared off her jaw.
This is the photo it was based on which is also in the link below:

I have seen heaps of photos with her smiling in them, Darki.
In the painting, I think the artist has painted her face too long, cant think of the right word, but that is what it looks like to me.
Something just doesnt look right.
