If i remember correctly - my kindle 3 (hot pink cover and built in light) arrived at my front door in approx 12 days (I tracked its progess on line)
While I was waiting, I downloaded the kindle app onto my laptop so I was able to start reading straight away.
Because my eyes have started to deteriorate I just find that being able to change the font size is fantastic.
I can carry all my books with me where ever I go and depending what I am in the mood for - romance, westerns, thrillers I can have straightaway, wherever I am.
I'm afraid that I have become very spoilt by my kindle!!!!

YAHHHHH
How far have you gotten? It takes 3 hours to charge it via the pc unfortunately.
Have you loaded the books youve been getting?
I made 'collections' on my home page.
I have my 'bought books collection'.
My 'free books collection'
My 'how to use kindle collection'
and my 'dictionary collection'

Yep. loaded my freebies.
Gotta decide which book I want to have as my first ever purchase :^O:^O
Gawd! Hope I can change things around, just downloaded them don't think I put them in collections at all!
Loving the screen saver! Pity can't put my own on though.
Is fairly simple to use, once you stop and read the destructions properly.

I stay in contact with the amazon discussion boards - the thriller and romance ones in particular - people are always posting suggestions for free and under $5 etc and with my kindle I have discovered many wonderful new authors - some indie authors that I had wanted to read but did not want to splurge my hard earned on - in case they were not any good.
I love how you can download samples of books - to get a feel of how an author writes - I find the kindle really cost effective
