Contact consumer affairs in your state, they will be able to tell you if they can help you or if you have to take it up with consumer affairs in the US

Can you get backlit Kindles? I like reading on my ipod, which is backlit and means I don't have to have a light on, but would like to get a Kindle as the itunes book range that I am interested in is quite limited (I only read non-fiction).

The kindle fire is backlit and colour - BUT is not sold directly to anywhere except the US and the apps for it are Not available outside the US.
There is an app for reading kindle on iPhones and iPads - will it work on you iPod? If so, it could be the cheapest option for you as the app is free (well the android one is so I assume the iPad one is too.)

Thanks Dyno and Krazy.
I will check out the app for Kindle, that would be a great solution. Although when $$ allow I would like a Kindle as the screen is much larger than my ipod.
When you say that the apps for the Kindle Fire are not available outside the USA, can you still download and read books on it from Aus? I can get one shipped to me from the USA, but not much point if it won't work here.

Yes, I believe that you can download and read books on it here, but not much else.
