They have only in the last few months been available in shops in Aust. Big W, WW& Dick Smiths.

I would guess most people here that have had theirs for 4 mths of so would have bought them direct from Amazon.

I bought mine from A UK, as my daughters was over ther at the time.

What are the postage/shipping costs? With those added to the cost price is it still cheaper than buying locally?

If you have trouble with you can't send it back by post as it has a Litium Battery.

I purchased mine here in Australia, so, if I have problems much easier to return

Are you sure the postage is free to Australia? not just to the US.

If it is free to Aust, that is a good deal.

Make sure you are looking at the Kindle for Australia on the A site. $189 plus shipping.

The W place also has online with free shipping $219 so a better deal.

I bought mine, or rather my OH did, just over a year ago now from Amazon. It included free postage and was much cheaper than what they are selling for here in Australia now.

As far as returns, unsure, but I know their customer service is EXCELLENT and from reading the site many people who've had problems have had replacements sent out. Their tech support/help is excellent also.

There are new Kindles available in the US now, including the Kindle Fire which looks great, but sadly is not yet available to purchase from Australia via the Amazon site.
