Kindles and digital purchases

About 3 1/2 years ago, I bought a kindle from the US site, (starting with A. )

I usually get my books from them but recently the site has been throwing up a suggestion that I switch to the Australian site instead. I can't see any value in doing so and not sure why I would, since I only buy electronic books from there.

Does anyone else use it?

I didn't know amazon had an Australian site. I have a kindle and I get a lot of free books from the pixel of ink site. I sometimes peruse the amazon site but they are so expensive and the audio  books are way beyond what I'd like to pay for an ebook.

Do you have a link?

It's OK I found it. I wonder if they pay their fair share of tax to Australia. Just a thought seeing the example Apple give out.

All other electronic sites too like itunes.

Sorry, I had to go out.

I hadn't thought about it from the tax angle. I get book bassett updates for freebies etc which I get through A***** but still  buy through them if needed. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Aussie one.

Re: Kindles and digital purchases

I switched to the Aussie site some time ago.  However, when I found that there is no wish list nor a connection to the US Amazon wish list, I switched back.

I did speak (online)  to the Aussie site and they confirmed that as yet they do not have the wish list facility.....and they understood that the wish list is useful and were happy for me to change back to the US site.  Apparently they will eventually have it but couldn't say when.

Apart from that, I couldn't see any difference except that the $$ were in $AU rather than $US.  I also use both Pixel of Ink and Book Bassett and (when I was registered with the Aussie site) the free books were still free etc

Thank you! just what I needed to know. ๐Ÿ™‚ I need the wish list, saves me having to store stuff and lose it!

I made the mistake of switching to the Aussie site. There were a lot less books available to browse.

I also tried the Au site, but switched back to US.

No wish list for a start, and then I found that sometimes books that were free on the .com site were not free on the .com.au site.

I also use Book Bassett, Pixel of Ink, eReader IQ, Inspired Reads, Hundred Zeros to name but a few.
