Mrs Wine and I are looking to get our kitchen gutted and a new one installed. It's really old and unworkable (the kitchen, not Mrs Wine ) (i.e. we get in each others way, no dishwasher, limited storage etc.). Has anyone done similar and are willing to share their experiences ? We're getting some quotes - and we have our own ideas (not exactly the same as each other, but close enough) - but would love some ideas from the CS team.
What's ultra-important to you in a kitchen ?
Or maybe, what did you think was ultra-important and once it got done turned out a bit unimportant ?
Or what didn't you consider then thought really important after the kitchen went in ?
There's a thousand companies out there doing it, and ten thousand opinions!
Thanks in advance

Our kitchen was way too small, no bench space and fridge space in the way. We sent fridge to laundry, only a few extra steps and spread the bench top out. It's much better. before it was large sink, stove fridge. Now it's bench top, small sink, bench top, gas stove top, bench top. It is so much better but we're doing bit at a time. The floor has $2pm cheap lino unitl we decide on tiles and do other areas. We found it was cheaper to use the local joinery than getting flatpacks. The bonus was he let my SIL be labourer on removal/installation day so we saved a bit more.

I am about to do mine too, watching with interest.
For me, my dishwasher is a must have. I will be looking at a fridge space for any fridge this time as ours was too small for anything and we had to remove a cupboard to fit a bigger one in.

We just had our kitchen done. It was so old, the drawers didn't even have runners !! lol
We had wanted a pull out pantry but it just wouldn't work and the design guy came up with enclosing the understairs to make a huge pantry. It's fantastic, so much room. Still have some work to do, tiling, floor etc. I'll post some pics.

I would go with having as many drawers as you can, and of differing sizes. They fit so much and are easy to keep organised etc.

The best kitchen invention ever :D:D

Hi freaki, no dishwasher. I've never had one, so I guess I don't miss not having one. Only two of us here anyway and OH is away most of the time.
