I joined on a very quiet Christmas Day on my own ... and now I can't help myself!
I set myself a limit but somehow I seem to have doubled that!
My son keeps reminding me that we perhaps should be using the money to pay for our flood damage ... but agrees that it feels good to be able to help other people get on their feet too ...
I have managed to spread the word a little but I have found some people seem to think there is a catch, especially when the free credit was offered.
I find it interesting to see if people have a 'theme', be it country, gender etc. I keep an eye out for loans for Uganda (where I lived), Nigeria (where I was born) and the Pacific Islands. I was looking for Fiji and Solomon Islands but have only found Samoa to date. I check every couple of days.
I have enough loans so that I can reinvest each month and I shall keep spreading the word ![]()

Hi cezm,
I remember when you joined, and it CAN be a little addictive being such an easy way of helping overseas.
I usually select those that are using funds for basics and preferably less than 12 months repayment so I can relend faster.
I also get enough paid back every month for relending 1 or 2 loans, and keep around 300 in the account.
Hope you get back on your feet from the floods.

That's the lovely thing about Kiva, if you can afford $25 you can afford to help. Some in our team have many loans on the go and others just have one or two. It all helps 🙂
It's good to see our team numbers slowly creeping up from our original 5 we now have 14.

Good one Em! We have two Christines now and also an anonymous. I thought before that anonymous might have been you. I wonder who is shy?

New repayments are coming in now along with offers for free loans.
This is for people that are interested in doing their first Kiva loan and it won't cost you anything. I can guarantee that once you join you will be hooked. http://www.kiva.org/invitedby/jacqui3910
Future loans are for $25 and a voluntary donation to Kiva which you don't have to pay on each loan. You can wait for the loan to be repaid to lend to the next borrower or make additional loans or withdraw it whenever you want. Most members seem to build a few loans and keep them turning over. The monetary risk is small and you won't earn interest but it is so rewarding.
If you take up the offer, please join our team Community Spirit.
