Whilst their prior occupancy of Union positions may be a matter of fact, being "ex union hacks" is a matter of opinion, as is the concept of the "Labor Party Owned and controlled by the union movement" (sic).

So wer'e still voting for one party or another that are either in control of the unions or in control of big business and we give them turn and turn about every 4 years or so because wer'e too gormless to look for other alternatives?

i'll take ex union leaders any day.

this morning's thomson decision is a good example of double standards. gunns director (former) John Gay was prosecuted for a 1Million dollar fraud (insider trading) Gay was fined $50,000 and disqualified from running a corporation after being found guilty of selling 3.4 million Gunns shares in 2009 while he had price sensitive information.

Thomson defrauded 25 thousand and has received a custodial sentence of 3 months with nine suspended.

one rule for the big end of town, another for a union official who rorted  5 grand a year..

gay is attempting to sit on another board at this time.

White collar crims, silvertails who have ripped off the public more than Thomson could ever dream of.  And you end up paying.   Compare what Gay has done - and the other shysters in the big end of town - with some poor wretch who shoplifts a loaf of bread.

No-one's excusing Thomson - but a bit of perspective is needed.

what I don't get here, is why publish that list as if it's a bad thing?

The list is just a demonstration of people prepared to stand up for what they believe in.

My limited experience and knowledge of unions is well known, but it doesn't stop me from having admiration for someone who has a go at doing what they think will help to make australia a better place to be a citizen of.

Sorry OP, the title was interesting, but for me, the name and shame aspect kinda backfired. I would have been interested in learning how/if  people believe the title has occured and thus why they believe it to be true/false or even an issue and the impact and ramifications/effects of that situation, but I guess I'll just have to wait for another thread, eh?

Well you know what they say, Deb. If you keep doing the same old thing you'll keep getting the same old result.

If there's no alternative to be seen, maybe we should all just withdraw our vote. Go on strike. Refuse to vote for either one of them.

I did once vote for another party outside of those 2, but it only ended up being the same old same old so i gave up lol
