The Coalition has been mute on workplace relations changes ever since John Howard's ill-fated Workchoices, which contributed to the Liberals' defeat in 2007.
Mr Abbott has reiterated that Workchoices is "dead, buried and cremated" during the two subsequent election campaigns
but with Abbott's recent track record of lying......I don't believe him.

Meanwhile the only "growth" promise in the budget is more road building. What won't be known until the details are released is how much of the $40 billion federal road spend over six years is new money and now much is a rehash of existing programs. For example, there seems to be no limit to the number of times Sydney's Westconnex project can be announced without a jack hammer being lifted or any concrete poured โ construction won't actually start until next year.
The government's deficit attention order leads one to suspect the promised building stimulus won't start to flow until the extra cash from the increased fuel levy has been banked โ and that will take time to build up through CPI indexation.
It therefore promises to be a particularly strange budget, promising growth while cutting it back in the name of dealing with an immediate crisis that doesn't exist.
Meanwhile, more important medium-term reforms for the longer-term problems are off-limits due to dubious "promises" made during the win-at-any-cost election campaign.
At least those who like word games may be amused โ how many alternatives to the word "tax" might be found in one budget speech? Levy, co-payment, excise...anyone for a tithe?

Nah, he'll just resurrect it.
He didn't rule that out, did he?

the plan is to wait for a 'second term ' so it may never see the light of day. more likely is a gradual workchoices by stealth as is happening now..

Heard Abbot state tonight that once this budget is through and processed then people will be open to them being elected for another term.
Wouldn't it be more favourable to actually discuss what they are going to do for the country in the next 3 years rather than it all just about being re elected. I don't believe they've got a show in hell getting in again and for what it's worth I don't believe he will be around for much longer. Too many upset people in the backrooms who are not being consulted, not being listened to and horrified at what is happening.
