Labors MESS they left Australia in

We were recently reminded by the Commission of Audit of the immense challenge to restore the Budget over the long term.

Six years of Labor delivered:
  • five record Budget deficits,
  • a further $123 billion in deficits for the next four years, and
  • debt projected to reach at least $667 billion.

Today we are releasing a document that sets out in detail the legacy that Australians have been left by Labor.

While the Coalition Government did not create this mess, we are determined to do the responsible thing by all Australians.

The next step in the Abbott Government’s Economic Action Strategy to build a strong, prosperous economy will be the release of the Budget next Tuesday night.

The Government will face up to the difficult but necessary decisions to repair the Budget so that we can build a stronger economy.

It is in building a stronger economy that we can create more jobs, help small businesses and families and ensure there are more opportunities for all Australians.

Regards,

Mathias Cormann
Minister for Finance

He was the World's Best Treasurer:)......that was funny.

Honestly? I trusted Swan to do the job of Treasurer and I feel he did well.

Swan was quirky but professional in concentrating on his job.

Hockey on the other hand is easily swayed from all directions.

He seems to be a popularist first a party member second and a treasurer third.

Swan was quirky but professional in concentrating on his job as Treasurer and IMO Swan WAS a Treasurer first and foremost before anything else.

He seems to be a popularist first a party member second and a treasurer third.......and I am supposed to have confidence in him as my Treasurer?......NOoooo I don't     *shudder

You mean you still had faith in Swan when he predicted a surplus over a year period and never even came close?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: Labors MESS they left Australia in

you have to look at the surrounding global events at the time and consider the economic changes that were happening. Swan did a good 'job' as Treasurer and I had a high level of confidence in him whilst he was Treasurer.

Hockey has DOUBLED the deficit we have .....in less than 8 months. This action alone does NOT instil confidence or trust....especially when he keeps blah-blah-ing on about how we all have to tighten our belts and pay back the debt.

He is an outright hypocrite, is misleading - tells big fat porkies actually.....appears very flustered.

No. I do not trust Hockey can do the job of Treasurer effectively

....pollies enjoy perks - even after leaving public office.

Politicians enjoy perks - even after leaving public office.

I see you are into comparisons poddster.

Here's an obvious comparison we should consider and that may interest you:

Lap band surgery is an alternative remedy for weight loss. Greedy portions and feeding frenzies cannot be tolerated afterwards but......

the stomach will eventually stretch again, sometimes to the same size it was  prior to surgery. But by then, the hope, is that you would have already learned  portion control, self-control, healthy eating habits, and have brought yourself  back down to a more reasonable weight and fitness level.

to poddster:

It's not all about you or me. .or 'mine'.

What gets my goat is that these fiberals don't 'see' that employees are the greatest investment in Australia and if looked after carefully will bring profitability, success and fortune......they put the companies and the money first i.e. the cart before the horse IMO.

Oh my giddy aunt....trusted Swan???????? this twerp had no idea what he was doing and was deeply distrusted by everybody.

This whole mess is Labor's fault, we won't forget their incompetence and destruction, we are still trying to get our head around NDIS and Gonski, how on earth is it going to be funded.

All the bleating from the disappointed on here is laughable and one eyed myopia but hey, if that's all they have then I say let them bleat but reading their total illiteracy of all things financial  beggars belief.

Re: Labors MESS they left Australia in

I have never seen ANYTHING in the history of our politics that even comes close to producing such blatant propaganda. What a load of absolute rubbish that would have cost tax payers millions and milions to produce and distribute.

And why the need to do it?

Can't the Liberal Party stand on it's own two feet?

Seriously what a joke to issue this the day before budget is announced. This is a new low in Australian politics and unfortunately has set a new agenga for our future politicians. How disturbing.

Labors Mess? More like Liberals Fear.
