Labors MESS they left Australia in

We were recently reminded by the Commission of Audit of the immense challenge to restore the Budget over the long term.

Six years of Labor delivered:
  • five record Budget deficits,
  • a further $123 billion in deficits for the next four years, and
  • debt projected to reach at least $667 billion.

Today we are releasing a document that sets out in detail the legacy that Australians have been left by Labor.

While the Coalition Government did not create this mess, we are determined to do the responsible thing by all Australians.

The next step in the Abbott Government’s Economic Action Strategy to build a strong, prosperous economy will be the release of the Budget next Tuesday night.

The Government will face up to the difficult but necessary decisions to repair the Budget so that we can build a stronger economy.

It is in building a stronger economy that we can create more jobs, help small businesses and families and ensure there are more opportunities for all Australians.

Regards,

Mathias Cormann
Minister for Finance

Demolition man Abbott swings his wrecking ball

Australia elected a demolition expert as Prime Minister, but you don't keep the demolition crew on site once you start building the new house. The wrecking ball he swung as opposition leader is now being swung as Prime Minister.

In government, the conservatives are continuing to trash talk our economy, manufacture a false budget emergency and instil a general sense of public fear.

In their parallel universe, an economy 15 per cent larger than it was in 2007, unemployment with a "5" in front of it, a strong investment pipeline, low interest rates, low inflation and low public debt are all cause for alarm.

Why are they doing this? Particularly when the strength of the Australian economy is recognised around the world?

The fact is at the heart of the Abbott government’s economic agenda is a clear ideological intent to delegitimise progressive polices, particularly our world-beating stimulus package.

That is, there is no role for government in economic management to secure balanced and equitable economic growth. Fear-driven partisanship started straight away on election night when Mr Abbott delivered one of the worst victory speeches ever.

It could have been one for the ages, even perhaps some humility. Instead, he gloated over the Labor primary vote and engaged in other petty politicking. I remember thinking if you can shrink to this occasion, you can shrink to anything. And he did.

Labor have nothing and the losers  have nothing except disappointment that labor  are no longer in power.

It's laughable reading the outrage and bleating over everything that they can glean as not what they "like" Like? get over it, and try to have some semblance of maturity that Labor lost the election by their sheer incompetance and infighting, lies and back stabbing.

Their 24 hour media addiction and the policy failures is what the voters saw day in day out and so they got rid of them.

Game over,  move on,  instead of bleating on forums venting  spleens and bile nobody cares about after the hell Labor put us through.

It's a bit rich asking Labor supporters to "move on" when the Liberals publish something as ridiculous as this.

It seems to me the only people who spend inordinate amounts of time "venting spleens and bile nobody cares about" are the Liberals and their supporters.

What on earth are you lot afraid of? Why can't you do something as basic as issuing a budget without creating a defensive hoopla about it? It's laughable and I suspect you are all as embarrassed as we are bemused.

"have you checked the polls lately???. lol"

I checked the last IMPORTANT one D9275, that was in Sept. 2013, and the next important one  will be on or before 14 January 2017

During the above period I predict many  pink self assurance hand holding episodes to expurgate the persistent PPTSD,  numerous choruses of Kumbaya,  a few hopeful "lols", and of course some less than blue replies from the "blues"

Joseph Chamberlain 1886: "In politics, there is no use in looking beyond the next fortnight"

Wise comment, but much overlooked, chuckle !
