Rudd, Abbott back Lib candidate over gaffe
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, too, was in Mr Diaz's corner.
"I understand the Liberal candidate for Greenway had a few challenges yesterday. I'm sure some of ours will at some stage or another," Mr Rudd told reporters in the Queensland seat of Griffith.
"That's just life in an electoral campaign. If you've been through as many as I have you've seen anything happen."
Deputy Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said although it was the first gaffe of the 2013 campaign, it wouldn't be the last.
"I think anyone who's never made a mistake ever is entitled to have a go," he told reporters in Sydney on Tuesday.

If you did not feel some pain for this young candidate you have not got a heart, I never cease to wonder at some of you lot with your "kick a dog while its down" cruel mentality. Shame and even KR and AA felt for him.

Maybe the member for Greenway went to the Tony Abbott school of public speaking:

If he couldn't remember only six points of a key policy, then he'd be better off quitting politics and going out and getting a real job. However, in his case, I fear it would be employment as unskilled labour.
The quality of our politicians on both sides really is abysmal.
Vote: None of the above.
