As a 4 yo my brother went missing from our yard at 9am, police searches turned up nothing. At 6 pm, a neighbour found him asleep on her verandah, on a day bed.
Hope this has a good outcome... and soon.
Your story is interesting. A paper on searches for lost children was considered about 20 years ago (but never written) because it was observed that while searchers and police always assumed that the children had roamed a long way and therefore searched further away, the children were almost always found very close to home, in dams or elsewhere. It was important, because time is always important to the outcome. Hopefully they have learned from experience since then.

Good, I hope that the TV vultures leave the family alone. How dreadful it must be to be in this position, and then have some twit asking you how does it feel.

On ABC news last night it was stated that 'although police are aware that there might be a more sinister reason for his disappearance, they are keeping an open mind at this stage'.
Just heard on the news that he has not yet been found,

I wonder if they can legally search the neighbours homes/sheds.... having said that, they would probably need evidence/reason to get warrants..

They have scaled back the search closer to the home.

And they have not ruled out the possibility of abduction

I'm wondering if there is more to this, there hasn't been any information regarding the family or have I missed it? There hasn't been any mention of the Mother was she with them at the grandmother's home?? or was she still in Sydney are they parted?

Tyrell family expresses gratitude
William's family has expressed how grateful they are for the community's support.
"The family are very distraught and upset but they do wish to pass on their gratitude to all the volunteers and also the emergency services that have been here especially over the weekend," Superintendent Fehon said.
"We saw a wonderful rally of community support to be out there and to search for young William and they've shown their gratitude or expressed their gratitude in respect of that community rally."
Family friend Nicole spoke to the media on behalf of the Tyrells.
"The family are devastated, and they just desperately want William home," she said.
"William is a much loved and cherished little boy

The only mention i've heard of family has been that the children were at the grandmothers on holiday from Sydney with their Father.
