Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek's Mr Spock, dies at 83
Actor Leonard Nimoy, who won a worldwide fan base as the pointy-eared half-human, half-Vulcan Mr Spock in the Star Trek television and film franchise, has died at age 83.
Nimoy, who suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, died at his home in Los Angeles.
His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed the death to the New York Times. A private memorial service was being planned.

That is so sad, but what a good innings he had. A wonderful actor and a gentleman who influenced whole generations.
Rest in peace Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) and thank you.

I was never a Star Trek fan; however I remember the TV series of Mission Impossible.

Such a shame...I grew up on Star Trek - and Spock was defintely my favourite character!
I'm proud to be one of the few in my circle who can easily master the Vulcan Salute, as well.

The last time Nimoy appeared in public costumed as Spock was in 1967 when he was grand marshal of the Pear Blossom parade in Medford, Oregon..........unfortunately, I had been inducted into the US Navy the week before.
