I just watched LIVING WITH THE ENEMY on SBS. The story about Ben the Aussie going to live with Lidia and Ahmed the muslims. Lidia is an Aussie and was raised Catholic and converted to Islam. Ahmed was born in Saudi Arabia.
What did I learn?
- Muslim women wont shake hands with a male person their not related to. (Very rude).
- When husband and wife muslims pray in their own house, the wife has to pray behind her husband. (Women are not treated as equals even in their own house).
- Christians are not allowed to visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Why? Because you have to be muslim to be allowed.
- Mosques can be built all over Australia but we can't build a Church in Saudi Arabia.
- The Quran tells muslims to kill people.
- In the mosque women are behind the curtain at the back. It's their own area. Why? Because the men have to be in a different section. Why? To give women privacy. This is the reason they cited. The real reason I believe is not to cause desire in the men.
- When they went shopping they visited a halal butcher to buy lamb shoulder. Ben wasn't consulted. What if he wanted pork chops?
- They went to Bondi to do an "Aussie thing called surfing". Lidia went swimming in her full Islamic clothing then when she came out of the water she placed a towel around her depicting the Australian flag.
Solved! Go to Solution.

served as an altar boy.
Were you taught as a child that Halal was forbidden as a Catholic?
As a child and until I left home and my local Parish, I questioned nothing I was taught.
1st Commandment of God does not allow Roman Catholics to honor/worship/legitimize false gods.
For this reason, it is against my religion to eat halal food. If you want to end up in hell go ahead and eat halal.
As a child I was taught to abide by the 10 Commandments of God.
How many times do I have to explain this?
I have had to say it at least 2 times before.
I have never read anything more ridiculous in my life.
Allah is God................... the same God the Catholic Church has. Well, my Parish Priest thinks so, perhaps he is wrong and the Vatican is wrong....................... and you are correct

Azureline, are Catholics supposed to listen to the Pope or are there some factions that don't recognise his authority - does he has any special place in Catholicism?

I'm notAz, Boris, but there is a doctrine of Papal infallibility, which really means that the Pope is God's representative on earth and everything he says is right.
Thanks Katydidthat, this Pope is pretty good and it's a shame that more Catholics aren't listening to his very wise words.

I just read some from that link - I didn't know that the Catholics still regard the Jews as God's chosen people? That's another thing they got wrong.
Catholics also teach the Trinity which the Muslim do not teach - nor does the Bible for that matter.
Don't get me started on the hundreds of WRONG things that the Catholic Church teach all their poor 'flock'.
I think if the only two choices were Catholic Church or Islam - I would plump for Islam - thank goodness there are other choices.
