I am a bit puzzled by the locking of threads and would like clarification of the reasons for it.
It used to be that threads not within the rules of CS were just removed and not seen again. Is there a point to keeping them here so they can still be read or is there another reason?

Odd that some are locked then go but some are locked and stay. So the explanation given isn't quite true?

I think that maybe it depends on the content. I saw one that said the thread was locked because it went off topic. Perhaps the actual topic was interesting enough to keep but replies were no longer relevant ? The ones that are removed probably should not have been started in the first place. ???????
