London Bridge attack: Terrorists died in an 'unprecedented' hail of bullets, police say
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-06-05/police-bring-down-london-attackers-with-50-rounds/8588974
i wonder if the british police officers once they had the suspects in their sights had to ask permission to shoot the carp out of them.

There is a vast difference between a hostage situation and a situation where there is active killing.
It is always better to try negotiation before going in all guns blazing.

Somehow Lyndal - given - the times we live in - if someone - armed - takes hostages - perhaps the time for negotiation is past.
It has been their decision to do this abhorrent thing - they have had time to dwell on the consequences - which at the moment aren't - in my view - harsh enough.
The very thought of anyone - being held - deprived of their freedom - and terrified for their safety - for some religious fanatic - to get his/her way - just doesn't sit.
They have made their choice - and should accept & deal with the consequences of their actions - something society has almost forgotten - across the board.
Why allow it to get to loss of life - for anyone other than the perpetrator.

I suspect the British police have emergency measures in place for this sort of event.
Our authorities probably think they do too, but I am worried they aren't really ready.
And as sure as eggs, our day is coming.
I don't think we can afford to negotiate too much. And in a lot of ways, the terrorists are better off dead. They aren't going to be able to radicalise others while in jail.

That's what they want as they have been convinced that they will be better if they commit suicide or get killed
so they go to their version of heaven/paradise and have virgins at their beck and call.
Heaven, paradise and hell are all places that the spiritual body is supposed to go to,(not the physical body).
So how is even a single virgin going to be a "benefit",
it's only religion that makes out that people will have physical bodies to make their individual belief symbols
more attractive,(that's why they are able to convince others to die for their "cause").
Killing and suicide is against the law and belief's in all countries and all religions as the person will go straight
to hell,(yet nutters still kill themselves after they have been convinced by fellow nutters that they will be
rewarded instead),
It's about time that all religions got together and announced that despite what the nutters say, they will still
go to hell,(and keep repeating that message).

And then there's these idiots as if people aren't traumatised enough already - http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/06/06/10/21/incident-on-sydney-albury-virgin-flight
A friend who actually lives with us is a Virgin Hostess and was, as it turns out, due to fly on the next flight from Sydney to Albury - so of course when I read the news story was worried sick for her, trying to make contact etc - as it turns out, it was not her, but still scary for everyone involved.
and then there was the seige in Melbourne yesterday - I do question why he was on the streets and not locked up

i try to imagine where all this will lead us,
police stopping and searching everyone and anyone in the streets, in their cars, riding a bike....ect
travelling on a plane...you will be handcuffed to a secure mechanism on every seat. also on busses and trains.
going to a sporting event....strip search and no, you cant take anything in with you.....in fact, take off your clothes and put on this dispoable coverall.
police smashing your door down at 2am......just to check your not a terrorist.
put in prison without a trial, heck not even a charge....you might do something one day....you look shifty.
govt takes over the internet, tv and radio.
mobile phones permanantly 'tapped' via a govt body. every message listened to.
all good citizens required to wear monitor braclets.
cant wait hey, good times ahead

David, ( though I now mentally think of you as ' Newscorp ' - said in the nicest way with a smile).
Think most of that a tad over the top.
Commonsense dictates - the majority of us are not & never will be ' terrorists '.
Those in the business of ' terrorism watching ' are pretty aware these days who is suspect & who is not.
I don't intend to be manacled any time soon.

A lot of that stuff already happens to ordinary citizens now.
You just don't hear about it, David.
