The UK boards really must have become the wasteland everybody is saying they have if people have to resort to posting in another country.
Permanently cast out members having to trawl around to other countries to post? is this what will happen or is happening in OZ?
Should members be permanently veto'd or should a lengthy veto suffice for a gross violation, not just the petty interpersonal reports.
What constitutes a permanent veto, surely not on the back of some members who gang up on another to drive them off? that is a true violation of what the boards were.
This is a debate we should be allowed to have, in fact we should be allowed to hotly debate, have robust debate, as long as its civil.

Everybodoy's welcome here, that's not the point of the question, how long is anybody allowed to participate before the hammer falls.
If a gross action is perpetrated by a poster is that deserving of a permanent veto? what constitutes a gross action? and not just the petty sniping and bp'ing that goes on here.
Is that type of uneccesary reporting behaviour playing into the business model of the mods? and will that type of behaviour see the wasteland that has befallen the UK boards.

When you speak of 'name calling' are you referring to personal insults against posters or jibes aimed at politicians and political parties? Button-pushers are anonymous - we never really know who has reported us - and I suspect the vast majority of them are pursuing petty personal vendettas. I honestly doubt whether any of the strident political posters here - be they right or left wing - would resort to reporting their opponents simply to silence their political views.

Someone 'who can not be named' that I know has been NARP for life - it is called Indefinite Supspension.
Not sure whether they could get it over turned or not after all this time, but I they can't really be bothered trying.

this place would be much "friendlier" if people including the OP would cease to report everything they disagree with.

From past experience I can categorically state that i have been indefinitely banned an number of times and then reinstated when it was shown that the indefinite bans were a concerted effort on the part of a group of people intent on malice.
Some of those people are still here, as you may have noticed, with the very same intent.
Fortunately there has been a change in the company tasked with the moderation of the forum and bans are not automatically allocated on the mere number of reports as they were in the past.
The claws of the Clan has been somewhat trimmed by the mere fact that post are now read and, in most cases, understood.
I would like to see a bit of a relaxation if the so called "interpersonal dispute" rule, which is applied to some disagreements.
Debate IS disagreement and should be allowed as long as it is the issue that is disagreed on and not the person voicing their concerns.
Without debate and humour the forum loses it's diversity and vibrancy and sinks into oblivion

Podds, the new Board Usage Policy finally addresses the issue of malicious reporting.
It has finally been included as a recognized breach.
"Misusing the Report link to maliciously or frivolously report posts"
They've also removed any mention of Off Topic Posting

Can't we, just for once, have an intelligent discussion on this subject without getting into "pots and kettles" battle of innuendo.

A definite step forward in addressing the gang mentality.
Many a worthwhile poster and asset to the forum has been put to the sword under the previous regime of moderation or at least the lack there of.
They met their demise at the hands of "The Clan" who, for no other reason than blood sport collectively dispatched them to an unjust death, metaphorically speaking.

Reality bites TGSE.
And by the way that is no innuendo I stated clearly and distinctly the reality if what happened in the past, so it is history.

Isn't every poster worthwhile and an assett?
