Yep,
MONDAY 29th
Kids go back to school so all the rotton weekend warriors will get in there never left the pavement trucks with their unleashed dogs and skidoos and 4 wheel buggys and GO HOME.
and our town will return to normal.
dont get me wrong, i dont dislike all holiday people, just most of them.

life has returned to normal in winge world, the happy campers have fled back to civilization leaving us neanderthals in peace once more.
walked foo this morning and not a dog off leash in sight.
no one has driven passed my house today at the speed of light.
there are no seadoos sea doing out front, just waves and gulls, and the sound of spashing water.
pure bliss

And no huge line up of caravans waiting for the ferry across the Murray River. Tonight on dusk it was just me and the ferryman. Must say it was very peacful with the sun setting over the river, cool breeze and a few pelicans circling the ferry.

yes, i know, they bring money into the district.
all i ask is they respect the place, just because they dont live here does not mean the speed limits dont apply, or dog laws, or ski doo driving laws. there are just not enough police to cover a huge area.
where i live its 15km per hour on my road which is aprox 2 metres from my front wall. so when a 'visitor' with his boat on a trailer goes past at 60kph it erks me, and its most of them! those who live here do the speed limit. heck its school holidays and there a little kids wandering around in here! does it really need for a child to be injured or killed for these buffoons to wake up?
lets just hope when travelling home they do better at taking care on the roads or we will be hearing of bad accidents and deaths......again!
life is short enough without testing your ability to cheat it.
We can spare you a few if that helps We live in one of the busiest holiday centres in the state and have police and speed cameras laid on.The problem is once the holiday makers all pack up and leave we have 20 police with nothing to do and no revenue to cover their wages. Their answer is to absolutely hammer the locals into the ground, to try to justify their existance. So if you need a few extra boys in blue, we can spare a few now the townies have all gone home.

Well it was bliss while it lasted. Eight weeks without any police harrasment as there where plenty of holiday makers to pick on. But right on cue, the holiday makers have all gone home and the police are hammering the locals again. Just got followed and pulled over AGAIN, secong time for February.
No particular reason, cop just wanted to check everything was tied down and zipped up on my farmers ute.. When I explained it was becoming a habit he did have the good grace to appoligies, but heck, I just dont need the stress. Perhaps they could take a drive over to Murray Bridge and do some real police work..( see related thread )

we had our first break-in in our estate sunday night/monday morning. 2 holiday houses hit at 3am.
they (majority of the owners) to get rid of the security boom gate and just months later we have our first break ins!
of course the holiday house owners for the most part didnt want the boom gate as it ment their 'guests' had to stop and punch in the number everytime they came in.
we warned them, (us who live here and wanted the gate to stay) make it open to traffic, anyone can get in 24/7.
made a real mess inside one of the houses from all reports, kicked in doors, stuff thrown everywhere. of course insurance will pay for it all.

Perhaps a few of our guys can come over to your town for a week or two and sort things out. I suppose the good thing about having a surplus of police with nothing to do is they actively patrol the holiday houses and back streets. The place is fairly safe really considering the transient holiday population we have.
