MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

Fran Lebowitz - I had never heard of her; but in an interview she says:

You'd better check yourself before you wreck yourself: "If you walked around New York you would think there was a terrible mirror famine. There might be drought here, a wheat famine there, but in New York you have a mirror famine. Because everything people wear, you have to assume they bought it."

"And the world would be a prettier place with a sprinkle of cross-dressing glamour: "Can you imagine if women tried as hard as drag queens? We'd be a much more attractive culture."

I tend to agree that not many people view their outfits before leaving home.  Someone in my own family will be receiving a cheval soon.

Years ago I found an eBay seller in the U.S. who sold beautiful pure cashmere sweaters and hoodies, and pure cashmere blankets, at very reasonable prices. She lived near a manufacturer of cashmere cloth and made the blankets herself. Sadly she doesn't sell such things anymore, production was cut during the GFC. So less excess stock for her to buy. A typical cashmere sweater, soft and thick, was around the 70-80$ mark (our money). They were superb quality. It made gifts easy for the ladies in the family 🙂

WOW love cashmere...

a lot of the cashmere thats manufactured these days is made in China. The designer I used to work for would use it, but I dont think its worth any $. Its finer, and doesnt last long- the fibres are too short (my opinion) so that it balls much easier..I used to wear a long cardi that my father had, it was cashmere from Britain- maybe Scotland?not sure, but it was warm, cosy and a kind of grey/blue and even after 10 years, there was no wear..you couldnt tell its age..love textiles like that.
