Maker of Thermomix being sued by ACCC

The consumer watchdog is suing the maker of the high-tech Thermomix cooking appliance for allegedly failing to report a number of serious burns from its devices by the required deadline.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has launched Federal Court action against the company.

ACCC acting chairwoman Delia Rickard said it was also alleged that Thermomix misled customers about their consumer guarantee rights about the appliance.

The kitchen devices are marketed as high-end kitchen products at a cost of more than $2,000.

Ms Rickard said it was alleged the company engaged in misleading conduct regarding the safety of the TM31 model, and there was concern around "misleading statements about the nature of a recall on the model that really downplayed the seriousness of the incident".

TM31 owners should look for the green seal.

Ms Rickard said it was important for people who have the Thermomix model TM31 to make sure they have a "green seal" and follow proper safety instructions.

What have you got, donna? A thermomix or what tasfleur has?

I do think these thermo cookers are the wave of the future.

I think you may be referring to the TM also Donna?   I'm sure in general, it can do what it is built for .... I just hope the manufacturers/company involved do the right thing by those who have been injured, take responsibility, and make sure it never happens again.

Thermocookers are certainly going to be the way of the future, I agree with you Springy.  The one I have at the moment is the third one I'm trying out, and the one I will be investing it.  The Cook Expert will be the next one just for the experience though.   Friends are happy to loan them out ....  

So happy that when we've had visiting quilters here with that particular TM that could have been a problem, nothing happened thankfully, at one point, we had four of them here at the same time ..

I feel llike I can cook anything now at the drop of a hat. I am highly organized though but love 'real' food. It seems like nothing goes to waste. I'm heading overseas in a few weeks so trying to use up all my ingredients.

I'm what I think is probably a lazy cook. Spirit willing, flesh weak.

I was happy tonight though. I had some diced lamb out to make a pie but left it till really late to start

As in-5.40pm

Normally I have the meat simmering a couple of hours before using it as filling but tonight I seared off the onions/mushrooms & meat and put it all in the pressure cooker. 30 mins later, voila!!

Mind you, it still had to go in the oven to puff up the pastry.

Probably not the healthiest option to cook I know, but cold night, pie & veg. Juast felt like it.
