Man wearing hats inside

The other night watching HotSeat, one of the contestants was wearing a hat.   Said to my mum that there was a time when a man didn't wear a hat inside and she mentioned that it was the norm for a man to tilt his hat for a lady also.

How many other things from the past have long gone as well as shoes and bags not matching.

Oh mugssy, don't get me started on that one. I just had lunch with a very dear friend who I love to pieces, but I can't sit opposite at the table because she talks with her mouth full. I can't bear to see it. I have to sit along side her and then we are both fine 🙂

"Keep your wings in"' I remember that one well! And don't load up your fork until your mouth is empty, yep.
I still like good table manners, but I don't think I'm as draconian about it as my parents and grandparents were.

Lurker I'm the same with people who insist on chewing like cows!
My children all know that if I put my four fingers under my chin and tap twice the person I'm directing the motion at is eating like a cow, this person instantly clamps shut! Lol

I looked for some sugar tongs whilst I was out, but I couldn't find any....

i wouldn't have lived past 5 with many of those rules, lol! we DID have a couple, mainly the no elbows, don't talk with your mouth full, and chew with your mouth closed.

being lefthanded,i was always seated at the end of the table,so i wouldn't knock other people's elbows.
