Manus Island: Morrison concedes he was wrong.

So it looks like all of the initial reports that Fairfax were printing were correct:

The death and injuries occurred INSIDE the compound by staff using unlawful force.

Unbelievable. Can you imagine the terror those (unarmed) boys and men must have felt?

colic, according to some, the asylum seekers are only getting what "the majority" of astrayans think is right.

We have shamed our nation and will continue to do so, all the while cheered on .

I agree that more information should be available in an orderly way but we all saw the disaster of that type of behaviour that befell Labor, every day every Labor MP was in front of the cameras trying to explain away the comic tragedy played out in their party to the extent that they forgot to govern and destroyed themselves.

Minister Morrison can only impart the information he is given until the full investigation is done. All we know at this time is the detainees rioted so we can only imagine what that was like & how it got totally out of control & the security staff had to do what they could to quell that, it must have been horrific.

To call Minister Morrison a liar is a bit of a stretch & the ones who cried for more information & he gives out the information he was given in a rushed manner is not the fault of the Minister.

This whole problem of thousands of people in detention &  the present new government is trying to deal with it lies at the feet of Labor & all the hate being written is just a lot of the left disappointment that they  no longer have the government they want. That is democracy.

No, the whole problem lies at the feet of the current govt.

When in opposition they used every opportunity to attack the govt., called them liars, called them on the supposed lack of transparency. attacked them for every breath they took.  When they got into power they suddenly decide we don't need information, unless it's to bag out their predecessors.

Now they want to  ignore the 30 year protocol and open the cabinet papers to use against the previous govt.

It's easy to see who are the "adults" and it's not the govt we have now.

Your whinging about the name calling is a laugh after the vitriolic attacks directed at the previous govt and anyone who didn't hate them with the same vengeance.

I think the attacks on the previous Labor government was well deserved. Six years of mismanagement & incompetence, corruption, lies & back stabbing. Nothing like it has ever been seen in the history of government and Australians will never forget it.

We are now faced with the biggest policy failures perpetrated on Australia by a Labor government in history, the failed border protection policy and the failed pink batts policy.

I hope they do get access to the cabinet papers, I hope they are presented to the RC & I hope the people responsible for killing young Australians on the pink batts Labor policy are brought to brook for their criminal negligence.

It's about time the so called cabinet papers were open to the public if deaths & criminal cover ups were plotted.

The previous govt got us through the GFC largely unscathed, and we were the envy of other economists around the world. I would call it a reasounding success. Smiley Happy

Under this govt's watch we are shedding jobs at an unprecedented rate and they are turning us into a 3rd world country

Lets wait and see what they want to do with our superfunds  Smiley Surprised

the pink batts scheme was a good one. It was the unscupulous contracters who hired untrained staff that were largely to blame for the deaths

Deaths were plotted?   By whom?  Have you reported this to FP?

If the previous government had shown itself to be more competent instead of the backstabbing, squabbling, self-congratulating bunch of incompetents they were, they'd  probably still be in government now and Mr Abbott wouldn't be confronted with the mess they left behind, and there wouldn't be such a deep divsion of political opinion in the population as is reflected on this board.

Labor supporters only have their previous champions to thank for leaving the door wide open for the LNP to waltz through.
